Anxiety is like constantly having your engine. While you might think this keeps you safe, it’s actually draining your tank.

Anxiety is extremely common. In fact, every human being feels anxious from time to time.

Anxiety can help us protect ourselves, by forcing us to ruminate on a problem and come up with a plan. It can also help us escape real danger by increasing our heart rate, dilating our pupils, and making us feel “on edge” so that we’re ready to run away.

Anxiety goes from a helpful to harmful when it never turns off over things that aren’t actually dangerous.

Feeling on-edge day after day, worrying about the same thing over and over, or having racing thoughts that keep you up at night is exhausting.
